Subsequent releases through to 1991 were released without an issue number and this successive refreshing of the Hits brand could be seen as minor relaunches of the series, each time in the face of the continuing success and strength of the rival Now! brand. From November 1989, the albums in the Hits series started deviating from their original chronological number system and began using alternative titles. From November 1989 to July 1991, The Hits Albums were released with these titles: Monster Hits (November 1989).
