Joan Armatrading is the third studio album from the British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading and her second for A&M Records. It was her first album to be recorded entirely in London, as her first two albums - Whatever's for Us and Back to the Night being partially recorded in France and Wales respectively in addition to London. Released in 1976, it included Armatrading's sole Top 10 hit single, "Love and Affection".

Another great album from one of the greatest lyricists of all time. The album is prephaps short of one of those memoirable tracks that stay in the song book of your mind ie Love and Affection, Willow etc but still an album for the collection of any Joam Armatrading fan. I love the tracks "Promise Land" and "More Than One Kind of Love". Also "Always" is not only a great track but a lesson in writing so much meaning with so few words.

Joan Armatrading's new "Live @ the Royal Albert Hall" blazes out of my changer. She has been smoking hot with her most recent studio releases and this live set has such dynamic clarity to the recording that you feel like you're right with her in London. The set opens with a blazing version of "A Woman in Love" with Joan's stinging guitar sizzling out of the speaker conveying such urgency. Come to me baby, stay by my side; don't try to fake it with little white lies," Joan sings trying to salvage a faithless lover on "Promises," originally from her amazing CD This Charming Life. IMHO, her guitar work rivals Neil Young's best in sheer intensity. Love & Affection" was originally on 1979's album "Steppin' Out" and shines with Gary Foote's moody sax solo. My Baby's Gone" was in my personal top ten a few years ago and stings with a maelstrom of electric guitar.
