At First Sight is conceived, written and produced for Axis Records. All compositions were recorded at The Spider Formation, Chicago. This album in many ways sums up my perception of Jeff Mills's sound and ranks alongside my other favourite album of his being 'The Other Day'. Perhaps, a significant proportion of those people who are into the harder, rhythmic 'Bells' type tracks just don't walm to this more cerebrally stimulating style. Personally, I love both

Mills' sets were a highlight of the nightly show from "The Electrifying Mojo," Charles Johnson. Complimenting Mojo's eclectic playlists, Mills would spin obscure detroit techno, hiphop, electro, freestyle, miami bass, chicago house and classic new wave tracks.
Jeff Mills, along with Robert Hood, Carl Craig, and Joey Beltram, is one of the biggest American names in techno. The album Metropolis documented the project in 2000, the same year that the compilations The Art of Connecting and Lifelike arrived. Studio albums At First Sight, Time Machine, and Every Dog Has Its Day (the latter recorded under the name Millsart) all appeared in 2001. In 2004 the Exhibitionist mix CD appeared, as did a mix DVD of the same name, the latter packed with extra features.
