Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited. The 101'ers never released a proper album while they were together, only turning out one single, a terrific pub rocker called "Keys to Your Heart. They probably would have remained a pub rock footnote for much longer if it hadn't been for lead singer Joe Strummer, whose massive success with the Clash led to an independent release (spearheaded by Strummer and 101'ers drummer Snake Hips Dudanski) of Elgin Avenue Breakdown in 1981. Outside of its original brief appearance on vinyl in 1981 it drifted in and out of print on CDs of questionable legality over the next two decades, before Astralwerks buckled down and issued a greatly overhauled and expanded version of the album called Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited in 2005.

The 101'ers have an almost even balance between live recordings and studio ones. Joe, already fascinated by the punk movement after seeing the Sex Pistols play, left The 101'ers in 1976 after being asked to join The Clash by Mick Jones and Paul Simonon and helped take part in the famous punk movement in Britain. It is also notable that he changed his name to Joe Strummer in 1975, the middle of The 101'ers time. So, when the band broke up in '76, nothing was planned to be released for the band, and nothing did until 1981

Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited. 101'ers - Elgin Avenue Breakdown Revisited - Cd. Track Listings. this is awesome! I love it. It is a must for fans of Joe Strummer. Don't expect The Clash. This is nothing like any Clash album. This is very Beatles-esque for the most part. It shows a lot of early, leather-clad rock influence.
