Bumble Bee Slim moved to Chicago in the early '30s. After a few years in the city, he began a recording career; his first singles appeared on Bluebird. Slim wrote and recorded frequently during the mid-'30s, selling more records than most of his contemporaries. In addition to cutting his own sides, he played on records by Big Bill Broonzy and Cripple Clarence Lofton, among others. Bumble Bee Slim moved back to Georgia in the late '30s. After a few years, he left the state once again, relocating to Los Angeles in the early '40s.

Bumble Bee Slim - Everybody's Fishing Label : Magpie Released :1976 Format :. Amos Easton (May 7, 1905 – June 8, 1968 ), better known by the stage name Bumble Bee Slim, was an American Piedmont blues musician. Easton was born in Brunswick, Georgia, United States. Around 1920 he left home to join the Ringling Brothers' circus before returning to Georgia, marrying briefly, and then heading north on a freight train to Indianapolis where he settled in 1928. There, he met and was influenced by pianist Leroy Carr and guitarist Scrapper Blackwell. By 1931 he had moved to Chicago, where he first recorded as Bumble Bee Slim for Paramount Records. The following year his song, "B&O Blues", was a hit for Vocalion Records, inspiring a number of other railroad blues and eventually becoming a popular folk song.

Released on CD as part of DA Music's Story of the Blues series, this CD features Bumble Bee Slim (aka Amos Easton), one of the more popular blues vocalists of the 1930s. This is an excellent overview of his early work. With the assistance of pianists Jimmy Gordon, Myrtle Jackson and Black Bob, guitarist Big Bill Broonzy and many unknown musicians, Slim (who also plays guitar on the solo "No Woman No Nickel") dispalys a likable delivery and an easy-to-understand enunciation on the set of vintage acoustic Chicago blues.
