Schubert's body of work includes over 600 songs for voice and piano. That number alone is vastly impressive - many composers fail to reach that number of compositions in their entire output, let alone in a single genre. Franz Schubert was a prolific composer of Lieder (songs). Schubert enjoyed a good time and, in his day, he was famous for his musical parties known as ‘Schubertiads’ when he would gather with his friends and fans and showcase some of his latest songs. Sometimes they would go for a picnic or on a river trip. See the full gallery: Schubert: 20 facts about the great composer. Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony completed by artificial intelligence. A bass and a pianist walked up to a public piano and belted out a one-hour Schubert song-cycle.

Schubert's reputation suffered from the fact that he did things differently and when a work of art is new and different, and the world cannot categorise or label it, it often takes a long time for the world to understand and accept what that work has to offer. In some ways, these things haunt Schubert's reputation even today. We think that we can reach one another but, in reality, all that we can do is to approach and pass each other by. What torment for those who realise this.

Franz Schubert excelled in every musical genre, writing string quartets that can be set beside the greatest of Haydn and Mozart, symphonies that stand comparison with Beethoven, and works for piano that paved the way for Schumann and Chopin. At an age when Beethoven had produced merely excellent classical style string quartets, Schubert produced his C major String Quintet, perhaps the most beautiful piece of chamber music ever composed. I can honestly say that it has the power to change one’s life, because it, in fact, changed mine. Had he written nothing else, Schubert would be immortalized. Schubert, however, was the first, and the greatest, songwriter in history. His 615 songs represent a flow of unaffected melody, and dark undercurrents of the soul, without compare in the history of music.

Franz Schubert (composer). Is McCartney the greatest melodist since Schubert? Update Cancel. ajhQdUrLEa gVCNbtulyvYxKk ubnHBLJUaFIrGP. I will agree though, I think he got lazy creatively, I think he spent too much time being stoned in the studio, I think he hurt himself by not allowing a good producer to task him to work harder/better, and without the ation with John, he just wasn't as motivated. BUT, having said that, this guy has been going strong writing quality songs for 6 decades! I feel i could easily a good solid album, maybe even a double album of solo songs that compare to what he did in The Beatles.
