Paul Leroy Robeson Jr. (November 2, 1927 – April 26, 2014) was an American author, archivist and historian. Robeson was born in Brooklyn to entertainer and activist Paul Robeson and Eslanda Goode Robeson. As his family moved to Europe he grew up in England (visiting the St Mary's Town and Country School in London) and Moscow, in the Soviet Union. In Moscow he attended an elite school.

Paul LeRoy Bustill Robeson (9 April 1898 – 23 January 1976) was an American actor of film and stage, All-American and professional athlete, writer, multi-lingual orator, lawyer, and basso profondo concert singer who was also noted for his wide-ranging social justice activism. If the American Negro is to have a culture of his own he will have to leave America to get it. As quoted in "Paul Robeson and Negro Music" in The New York Times (5 April 1931).
