Blue Rondo a la Turk.
Blue Rondo à la Turk" is a jazz standard composition by Dave Brubeck. It appeared on the album Time Out in 1959. It is written in 98 time, with one side theme in 44, and the choice of rhythm was inspired by the Turkish aksak time signatures. It was originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet with Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Eugene Wright on bass, and Joe Morello on drums.
Blue Rondo A La Turk was a British pop band named after a popular jazz tune by the Dave Brubeck Quintet. It was formed by Chris Sullivan (vocals) in 1981, and the rest of the lineup was: Moses Mount Bassie (saxophone), Mick "Lloyd" Bynoe (drums), Art Collins (saxophone), Geraldo d'Arbilly (. razil) (percussion), Kito Poncioni (. io de Janeiro, Brazil) (bass), Mark Reilly (. 960 02 20, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England) (guitar), Christos Tolera (vocals), Tholo Peter Tsegona (trumpet), and Daniel White. 959 08 26, Letchwood, Hertfordshire, England) (keyboards)
Blue Rondo à la Turk was an early 1980s British musical ensemble, whose music featured elements of salsa, pop and cool jazz. The group placed two songs on the UK charts (1981's "Me and Mr. Sanchez", and 1982's "Klactoveesedstein"), but is perhaps better known in retrospect for launching the careers of several players who went on to form the sophisticated group Matt Bianco. The group added Moses Mount Bassie (saxophone) as a member for their third single, "The Heavens Are Crying", written by the band with Clive Langer. This track was produced by Langer and Alan Winstanley, and failed to chart. Blue Rondo à la Turk's debut album, Chewing the Fat, was released in 1982 and included all four of their singles released to that time.
